Today was our first day of parent-teacher conferences. Mr. Hanks and Mrs. Mazeau took care of us first year DI teachers by providing a substitute for the full day so that we could get a jump on our first parent-teacher conferences. Sra. Hurtado and I have chosen to be together for all of our conferences to answer any parent questions or concerns for both of us. We will be discussing student work. progress, assessment data, and report card conduct and academic scores.

Our 3rd Annual Apex Fun Run is now less than a week away on Thursday, August 20!! My homeroom class will run between 10:00-11:00 a.m. on TRACK 1 (because we are number 1, of course). GOOOOOO Josa's Jaguars!!! Have you collected pledges yet? Remember that there are two ways to gather pledges. One is for students to ask for a pledge PER lap. So, if Grandpa Joe says he will sponsor your child for $1 a lap and he/she runs 30 laps, so Grandpa Joe will end up with a $30 bill from your child (Since each lap is only 1/16 of a mile, 5th grade students will most likely run between 24-36 laps). Another way is by giving a simple donation. A one-time donation of any amount. Log-in to your child's APEX account and check it out! Parents are encouraged to come out and volunteer with our PTA to help monitor, tally, and pass out water for the kiddos. If you have any questions, post them below. :) Have a fabulous weekend.
Hello Parents!
The first three weeks of the year have flown by! We have most of our parents logged in to Class Dojo and Edmodo. These two online resources are great ways to stay informed about what is happening in your child's academic life here at Hedenkamp Elementary's 5th grade Dual Language Immersion program. Sra. Hurtado and I have felt such a warm welcome from all of you and our community of teachers! It is a joy to be here serving you all. Please let me know via e-mail, Class Dojo, or Edmodo if there is any way I can come alongside you to help your child grow and achieve great things this school year. We are all a team! Thanks again for your support, encouragement, and for the smiles as you pick up your children from school. :) |
